The results of the lengthy investigation by the House Benghazi Committee are clear.
It was a political witch hunt. That’s the only conclusion.
After several years and $7 million of your tax money, the committee came out with an 800-page report that couldn’t even discredit Hillary Clinton, which was the real purpose.
Yes, the report said, the staff in Benghazi wasn’t adequately protected. Maybe more funding from the Republican-led Congress could have fixed that.
Yes, there was government incompetence, but nothing startling there.
This was the eighth Benghazi investigation and the most thorough concerning the incident in which four American lives were tragically lost.
Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy claimed: “There is new information on what happened in Benghazi. That information should fundamentally change the way you view what happened.”
Actually, it doesn’t. If they had information that would totally trash Hillary Clinton and hurt her campaign, they would be shouting it from the mountaintops. Which means they didn’t have it.
The whole sham was best described by Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California.
“The whole exercise demeans Congress,” she said.
Congress demeaned itself plenty with this whole, politically motivated, wasteful sham.
