John Skinder is running for Thurston County Superior Court Judge, Position 7.
Mr. Skinder is endorsed by just about everybody and every group, league, association, etc. including that of Mr. Skinder’s hopeful position, retiring Judge Gary R. Tabor. They can tell you all about his prosecutorial history of fairness and work ethic over 15 years leading the special victims trial team, the domestic violence prosecution team, the juvenile prosecution unit and as the lead attorney in the appellate unit.
What I can tell you does not make the news, the court record, or much attention. What matters to me makes the difference. In the heat of an ethical debate over what is best for the child, John listens. His chair will tilt ever so slightly back, allowing voice before determinism. When the child meets the prosecutor, John gets down to eye level and smiles, not with his face but from his heart. The child knows compassion.
The scales of justice are the lens to his world and he continually impresses me with his ability to keep balance when all seems chaos. People ask me how I can do my job (child abuse clinician). Having leadership the likes of John Skinder on my team, that’s how.
