My wife and I were hit head-on by a drunken driver Christmas night, and as we sat in our wrecked car waiting for help to arrive, we gave thanks for the fine men and women who would soon come to our aid.
The Thurston County sheriff’s deputies, Washington State Patrol troopers, crews from Lacey fire and Olympic Ambulance and the staff at Providence St. Peter Hospital’s emergency department all did an outstanding job taking care of us in our time of need, and we are grateful.
I think sometimes we take for granted our law enforcement/EMS/fire and health care professionals like the ones mentioned above. It was a night like we had on Christmas that brings what they all actually do for us back into perspective.
As a community, we are truly blessed to have folks like this looking out for us. As for the civilians who stopped to offer assistance and direct traffic around the scene, I don’t know any of your names, but thank you.
