On a recent broadcast it was reported that there are about 1,000 federal government committees in Washington, D.C., at a cost of $300 million next fiscal year.
We elected 535 representatives and senators to represent and work for us. Each of them has a staff and the cabinet members each have staff. And, of course, the president and vice-president have staff and many advisors.
