I read with interest Keith Spencer's letter about DSHS Secretary Susan Dreyfus using "gimmicks" to save the state money. His complaint regarded closure of the Maple Lane school.
I can identify with Spencer’s use of the term “gimmicks.” In December, Dreyfus held a meeting at the Frances Haddon Morgan Center in Bremerton, to tell parents that it would save the state money to close this excellent home for the developmentally disabled. Yet, when questioned, Dreyfus admitted that no specific cost analysis had been done, but that she “intended to have it done.”
Secondly, Dreyfus intimated that closure of the Morgan Center was a done deal, when in actuality our legislators have not made a decision to close it.
Someone just isn’t playing fair.
