I thank The Olympian for its editorial regarding the refusal of the "Little City that Couldn't" to pay its agreed share of the cost of operating the Amtrak station serving the Olympia area.
The Little City was able to spend nearly a million dollars to put in place an expensive parking system that is unnecessary, inconvenient and complicated, and which replaced a perfectly good parking meter system.
But when asked for their annual contribution to the station, “The Little Mayor who Wouldn’t” said “No, we don’t have any money.”
I guess they spent every cent they had on the goofy parking system.
That cost 80 times what the “Little City that Couldn’t” owes its contribution to the train station.
So travelers may not have a station to use when they get to Olympia, but they will be able to enjoy the new and improved parking system.
