I have been a resident of this area for well over 30 years and I feel compelled to make a comment about our recently adopted rash of roundabouts.
I think we should change our name from Thurston to Roundabout County. I am especially concerned about the Tumwater area where I shop nearly every day. They seem to have millions and millions of dollars to build all those things in their city.
They also have unlimited funds to install lavishly landscaped medians that run for blocks with no turnaround, but ignore the horrible condition of most of their streets.
I feel for the folks on the west side of Littlerock Road. If they have an emergency, such as a fire, medical problem and so on, the fire, police or rescue units have to go several blocks out of their way to get to them.
Never miss a local story.
By the way, if you are driving on that street and an emergency vehicle approaches from behind you, the law states that you must pull over to allow them to pass. This is a one-lane street. Where do you pull over?
What a foolish risk for the city to take on that liability.
I don’t know who designed this street project, but someone should have consulted with all the agencies before taking it on themselves to go ahead with it.
I do know that the homeowners on Littlerock Road protested the development to no avail.
Our tax dollars at work— wow.
