I question the state Senate, House and governor budget cuts.
I just received a call today from the North Thurston Public Schools district asking me to attend a special town hall meeting due to the several millions of dollars the district will be losing the next school year – money that this impoverished school district can’t afford to lose, by the way.
As someone who is self-employed now and who was employed by the Legislature I have been able to see both sides of the spectrum.
What I don’t understand is why there have been minimal cuts in state employee benefits.
How much money, each month, does the state pay out on staff benefits?
Want to know how much I do?
For my family of four I pay $995 per month.
That is for medical insurance with a $3,500 deductible, dental insurance, life insurance for my husband and myself and disability for my husband.
So if I have to pay for the state employees benefits out of my businesses’ earnings why aren’t they having to pay as much as I do as a business owner?
You do realize that I pay $11,940 per year to try to keep my family healthy and me safe.
Start running the state like the business that it is.
This isn’t politics anymore folks. This is life.
