While I agree with Rep. Sam Hunt's statement that there is a process for school districts to get rid of ineffective teachers, the fact is, it is seldom used.
Having been a state employee for over 25 years, I saw first-hand the favoritism that was shown, and there is no doubt it happens within the school system as well.
For as long as I worked for the state, people were hired and promoted because of who they knew, and it didn’t matter (and still doesn’t) whether or not they were doing a good job.
Prior to Gov. Chris Gregoire’s re-election, she kept saying over and over that Washington had no budget problems. Then magically, the state ended up being billions of dollars in the hole.

If the governor and her fellow Democrats had quit spending so frivolously a long time ago, Washington wouldn’t be in the mess it is now.
I’m tired of my taxes continuing to go up just because the state keeps overspending. Most citizens live within their means. How about if our state government tries to do the same thing?
