I cannot agree more with letters written by Michael Fuller and Florence Vincent.
They are both great examples of the new U.S. under the rule of the super-rich.
Thanks in part to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Citizens United case, the doors are open for money to flow into our democratic political system.
The Republicans have the gloves off now and are plainly showing their hand.
One needs to look no further than our own 20th District, where Sen. Dan Swecker has co-sponsored SB 5347, which would make Washington a right-to-work state.
It’s unbelievable to me that a multiple term senator like Swecker would turn his back on the hard working taxpayers of Thurston and Lewis counties.
I have known for years that he was a corporate shill, but I didn’t think he would cave in completely right in front of the citizens that he supposedly works for.
This bill has little to do with bringing jobs to Washington and a lot to do with bankrupting all labor unions in the state.
Right-to-work laws have been proven to severely hamper communities wherever they are enacted.
Everyone in Washington can expect their wages to be cut by an average of 18 percent within three years if Swecker gets his way.
The only things that go up in right-to-work states are the crime rate and infant mortality.
It’s time to turn Swecker and all of his Republican friends out to pasture, where they can enjoy their tea party together.
