There is a lot of press lately about spouse, partner and child abuse in professional football, and the many root causes. Coaches are under pressure by everyone to win games. No has said that an athlete’s bad behavior is excused from childhood through adulthood, if that person is a good athlete.
In my 87 years I have seen this many times at all levels, especially at the college and professional level. Only recently have coaches started to reprimand and punish players with bad behavior. I hope the recent scandals will bring some common sense to the picture.
Coaches need to take action even if it means losing games. It also means the coaches should not be penalized for taking action.
