The County Clerk’s commitment to the community is crucial. Involvement with non-profit organizations, statewide associations, legislature, legal community and state agencies is the external role of the clerk. The internal role is overseeing the statutory requirements of the office and administrative needs of staff.
Yvonne Pettus is my choice. She possesses the qualifications and experience. Pettus served as court administrator, legislative chair for municipal and district court associations. Her leadership includes designing curriculum, leading major statewide committees, budget preparation, union negotiations and preparing an analysis on court performance for National Center for State Courts. Her leadership with Family Justice Center/Family Support Center and the Crisis Clinic is testimony of her community involvement.
Pettus’s opponent lacks the ability or skill to perform the duties of County Clerk, she was not successful nor trustworthy as Chief Deputy Clerk.
Pettus’s leadership is demonstrated by support of staff and clerks statewide. Her work with county departments on business issues and processes has earned her support from county officials. Pettus’s extensive education and knowledge of the legal requirements of the Clerk’s Office makes her the qualified candidate. I have absolute confidence in turning over the office to her.
