Voters in North Olympia Fire District 7 will be asked to approve two proposals on the Nov. 4 ballot, one to merge with South Bay Fire District 8, and one to raise their levy rate from the current $1.33 to $1.50 per thousand of assessed value. Both proposals must pass for the merger to proceed.
The Thurston County Fire Commissioners’ Association endorses the merger of these two fire districts and encourages District 7 voters to vote yes on both of these proposals.
Fire Districts 7 and 8 have similar demographics, share common geography, and work closely together to coordinate emergency response: their combination is a natural fit. The levy increase to $1.50 would match District 8’s current levy and bring District 7 in line with most other districts.
By voting yes on both proposals, District 7 voters can assure their fire service is on par with the rest of the county.
