Percival Landing needs $7,000,000 of repair work. At one time or another we have all walked on Percival Landing and enjoyed our friends, the weather, the view, the cry of the gulls, the smell of saltwater. Percival Landing is a region asset that we all enjoy. The Regional Athletic Center is a regional asset, providing recreational opportunities and economic impacts for the community. Someday the Old Brewhouse will also be a regional asset where people will gather to celebrate, rest and trade. These are all regional assets and hence regional responsibilities.
Why should the cities bear the responsibility of maintaining these facilities. Forming a regional park district to share the cost of developing and maintaining these regional assets is a way we can all share in the load. Sharing the load across the region would be an equitable means of providing the facilities that we all enjoy.
