The so-called “Deflategate” controversy is not about winning or losing. It is not whether it mattered in the game’s outcome Jan. 18, but about cheating by someone in the Patriot’s organization. But then the NFL is a very profitable non-profit, so is that cheating? We fans support a non-profit earning billions. It makes all that money on the backs of some players who suffer and die prematurely long after their glory days are past and in the past the NFL has denied any responsibility. Maybe we need to think about how to support players safety, civility and good character – otherwise none of us are winners.
