It was really good to see two letters (Jim Keogh, Feb. 9, and Delwin D. Fandrich, Feb. 10) and the “Boo” in Our View about the Koch brothers. I was alerted to the actions of the Kochs back in 2010, thanks to an article by Jane Mayer in The New Yorker. A few quotes reveal what we are dealing with: “longtime libertarians who believe in drastically lower personal and corporate taxes, minimal social services for the needy, and much less oversight of industry – especially environmental regulation”; “in 2008 three main Koch family foundations gave money to 34 political and policy organizations”; “(they) and their company have given additional millions to political campaigns, advocacy groups, and lobbyists”. Also “(they) have long depended on the public’s not knowing all the details about them.”
It is interesting to learn about the many products we use daily are in their pockets. If that isn’t enough I suggest readers refer to The New Yorker and read the entire (Aug. 30, 2010) article. What Jane Mayer wrote about nearly five years ago should be highlighted for everyone. Too many people are ignorant or at best, unaware, of what the Koch brothers are doing to our lives. Look into their history. Read Jane Mayer’s article.
