A March 1 article in the Los Angeles Times talks about the type of young people being recruited for ISIS terrorists. They seem to be part of a generation that grew up with video games, with killing and war themes. Unfortunately in real life, you do not get a second chance when you are killed. I don’t think that these young folks are realizing this.
Whatever they are drawn to, who knows? They surely did not read in school about Nazi Germany and Hitler. If they had, they would see what this ISIS organization is about. For the youngsters that have made their way to ISIS from the U.S. or Australia or London, there is not to much we can do to help you. Your mom and dad are probably worried sick over you, though.
At the same time, please know this: In the U.S. there are hundreds of thousands of military veterans and we all took an oath to defend this country from enemies, foreign and domestic. That oath never expires and we have no problem picking up our weapons once again to defend her, even on our soil. As we used to say in the Paratroops, “Anytime ... Anywhere.” God bless America.
