This comment is specifically addressed to the person I encountered Saturday, May 23, outside the Sonshine Market. Get a hold of yourself! I was walking about half a car’s length behind you heading for my car. You suddenly turn around and throw your arm out at me in a threatening manner and start yelling at me to “Stay back, don’t block me in, I have PTSD.”
I have had severe and complex PTSD since early childhood. My first thought was that you had a gun and were going to do something. Then I realized what you said and it angered me because you startled me so and almost triggered me. You were not blocked in; you could have gone forward or sideways. I moved from behind you into the street and walked to my car with you yelling at me to mind my attitude.
I am assuming, hoping, that you are getting therapy.
May I please ask you to watch yourself? You are not the only person with PTSD. Your loud, sudden, threatening moves and comments are in themselves upsetting and can trigger others.
In the past, I would have gone with the first fight-or-flight assumption that you had a weapon and would have tackled you.
