John Dodge’s retirement from The Olympian strands us without our local story teller. During his years of writing columns, very little escaped his interest. He’s written about the big and little people, issues and enterprises around here with the same even-handed, open-minded, chatting-over-the-fence style.
He’s so fun and easy to talk to people forget he’s a reporter. Many locals have suddenly realized they’d been Dodged when their flip comment or observation showed up beneath his byline.
If you’ve read his columns, you know him even if you’ve never met him. He’s the same genuine guy in person that he is on the page.
He’s touched so many lives around here that he’s a difficult man to have a beer with downtown because so many people want to interrupt to say hello or thanks. Me too. Thanks, John.
