Referring to the “Obama wrong” letter of May 23 from Ms. Bruton, her comments on short memories are biased and selective. Right after Americans had voted Mr. Obama into office as president, a large number of Republican politicians stood on the steps of the Capitol, reporting to the American people that their number one goal was to work to vote President Obama out of office.
This was at a time when Americans were going through the worst economic disaster that most of us had ever experienced. Horrible American military involvements overseas, Social Security cuts, health care plans and the financial crisis the article references all had to be dealt with. Obama inherited these and many other serious issues.
President Obama, in his pre-election proposals regarding how to remedy these and other issues, was met with total opposition and virtually no positive alternatives, only negative votes on his solutions.
A real loss of memory is evident on the part of those who have forgotten which side of the aisle had the most power to help with these issues, by augmenting and assisting the president rather than opposing him and dragging their feet while the American voters were being led to believe that a president could make every decision without the support of Congress.
Never miss a local story.
Given these situations, no one could have done a better job than President Obama.
