We are going to miss reading John Dodge’s Soundings in the Olympian.
I believe his last article ever was on May 24 because he’s retiring, but I’m hoping he might be a guest writer sometime in the future. Hope, hope, hope. Dusti Demarest’s article in the same issue made me realize that I’m not the only person who’s never met John in person but have always had a crush on him anyway.
His last Sounding’s was about the long term discussion over Capitol Lake and the Deschutes estuary. It’s disappointing that no decision was made before John’s retirement but the end of the article stated that the State Senate has made a proposal with very ambitious goals.
With the same thought, Facebook has a group called Small Lake for Olympia. It supports both restoring the Deschutes Estuary and a small lake for recreational purposes. John Dodge has written so many interesting articles on so many different topics over so many years that I now I wished I’d saved more of them. I hope he has a great retirement! Also, where do I stand in line to buy his book?
Never miss a local story.
