It is somewhat refreshing for the Republican Party leaders to come out and admit blatantly that they do not care about the American people, they do not care about the Constitution, and they do not care about doing the job that the people have elected them to do. They have stated as much by their declaration that they refuse to consider any nominee for the Supreme Court until after the next election, no matter who it might be.
The fact that the American people elected their senators to perform their duties under the Constitution, one of which is to fairly consider nominees to the Supreme Court, does not bother them if it appears that maybe they could lose power.
One Republican even went so far as to declare that, “Senate Republicans would be grossly irresponsible” to approve any nominee, and concluded, “Let the people decide in November who will select the next justice.”
The people decided in 2012 who should select justices for the Supreme Court. Why would it not be “grossly irresponsible” for senators to refuse to do the job that they were elected to do, which is what this refusal is, solely in an attempt to benefit their political party?
Obviously the Republicans are just scared that President Obama could submit a well qualified judge, and the only excuse for not confirming that judge is naked partisanship. But we knew that. It is just nice of them to confirm it - again.
