This will be the final fee-free weekend for visitors to Mount Rainier National Park, Olympic National Park and North Cascades National Park. As part of a Park Service effort to boost travel and visitation, visitors don’t have to pay admission fees Saturday and Sunday.
The two previous fee-free weekends have resulted in some of the busiest days of the summer season at Mount Rainier.
Other Washington parks units waiving entrance fees this weekend are Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, Lewis & Clark National Historical Park and Whitman Mission National Historic Site.
National park admission also is free on Sept. 26, which is National Public Lands Day and Nov. 11, which is Veterans Day.
Never miss a local story.
