Verle's Sports Center will hold a daylong salmon seminar Saturday.
The event, running 9 a.m.-6 p.m., features a series of sessions on fishing techniques, where to fish and how to smoke your catch.
Here is the schedule of seminars:
9 a.m.-4 p.m.: How to season and cook fish, smoke salmon and more, by Connie Ackrill; and flavor fuel for smokers and grills, by Brent Peterson
10 a.m.: Cut plug fishing for blackmouth, by Doug Bellmore
11:30 a.m.: Winter blackmouth salmon techniques, by John Keizer
1 p.m.: Urban salmon fishing, by Brian Lull
2 p.m.: Turbo flash fishing for salmon, by Shawn Mackey and Allie Shearer
3 p.m.: Springers on the Columbia, by Swanny’s Guided Fishing
4 p.m.: Salmon leaders by bait color, by Randy Prengel
In addition, there will be a smoked-fish contest. All entries must be received at Verle’s by Thursday. The favorite voted by people attending the seminar will be declared the winner.
