Metro Parks Tacoma has come up with a new event to help usher in spring: the Titlow Trails Mud Run on March 20.
The family-friendly, 5k run/walk will take runners off the city streets and sidewalks and onto the trails near Titlow Park. It’s sure to be a bit muddy, thus the name.
The fun run begins at noon and, depending on the weather and the amount of mud, will turn an afternoon of trail running into a dirty, dusty, sloppy good time, said a Metro Parks news release. The course is designed for dirt-tromping, mud-loving children and adults as well as fastidious folks who plan to puddle-jump and keep their feet dry, it added.
The top male and female finishers will receive prizes from South Sound Running. The event will be chip-timed.
Entry fee is $15. There is no day-of-race registration. Online registration is available at www.metroparkstacoma.org/races and closes at midnight March 17. Race day check-in begins at 11 am at the picnic shelter near Titlow Lodge, the run begins at noon.
