Hikers, backpackers and other outdoor enthusiasts can learn about trail food at a dehydrating and trail food roundtable April 3.
Members of the Tacoma Mountaineers hiking and backpacking committee will discuss meals, snacks and mistakes. They will have samples of some of their favorites, including all dehydrated quinoa, pasta, tomatoes, cole slaw, chocolate pudding and apple pie.
Participants also will learn how to select a dehydrator and how to use it to remove all the water from your food to minimize weight and maximize flavors and culinary experiences on the trail.
The event will be 1-3 p.m. at the Mountaineers Clubhouse, 2302 N. 30th St., Tacoma.
