D. Kent Cannon, author of "The Kokanee Obsession," will present a seminar Saturday on fishing for kokanee. The presentation will include tips on how to catch larger and more of these landlocked sockeye salmon.
Because kokanee do not migrate to the ocean to feed, they often are smaller than sockeye, averaging less than a foot long.
Most kokanee live in a lake for most of their lives. Favorite kokanee lakes close for South Sound anglers include American, Alder, Clear and Bumping.
The free event will be 1-4 p.m. at Wholesale Sports Outfitters,1220 Marvin Road N.E., Lacey. For more information, call 360-459-5800.
Cannon’s book is currently available at Amazon.com for $18.95.
