The first April clam digs begin this week.
The beaches at Long Beach and Twin Harbors will be open for clam digging on morning low tide Thursday through Saturday, according to a state Department of Fish and Wildlife news release.
The clams have tested safe to eat.
People ages 15 and older must have a 2011-2012 license. The 2010-11 licenses expired last week .
The next clam digs are tentatively set for April 19-23.
