Washington's State Parks and Recreation Commission will receive a grant topping $1.06 million to improve boating facilities.
The money is part of $11.7 million being awarded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Clean Vessel Act.
The state plans to use the money to install or replace sewage pump-out and dump station facilities, to provide operation and maintenance funding for coastal and inland facilities. and plan to enhance partnerships with other natural resource agencies to inform marinas about the program.
Funds for the program are generated through the collection of fishing tackle manufacturer excise taxes and boat and fishing import duties as well as motorboat and small engine fuel taxes.
