Allyn Days and Geoduck Festival
What: This will be the 34th annual celebration of this small town on the west edge of Puget Sound. This will be the sixth year for the geoduck event. There will be a beer and wine garden, educational activities, vendor booths, music and other entertainment.
When: July 15-17.
Where: Allyn, on state Route 3 between Shelton and Belfair.
July 15 kickoff: The first night begins at 5:30 p.m. as singer/songwriters Mick & Laura McCartney of Rhythm & Sass host the first ever open mic competition at the gazebo in Waterfront Park. It is open to residents from Allyn and surrounding communities.
July 16 highlights: Events will run from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Alder-smoked salmon will be served from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. The Allyn Community Association food court will have burgers and more. Children can play on a pirate-ship playground, take on a climbing wall or run an obstacle course.
July 17 highlights: It’s all about geoducks from 9 a.m.-8 p.m., including the 250-yard Geoduck Mud Run. There will be plenty of geoduck dishes served up, thanks to a donation from Taylor Shellfish and the efforts of area restaurants. Danny Vernon will wrap up the day with his “Illusion of Elvis” performance.
