Supporters of Schafer State Park and Lake Sylvia State Park are throwing a salmon bake at Schafer State Park on Nov. 14.
Schafer and Lake Sylvia state parks are popular spots in Grays Harbor County, but both parks faced possible closure during the state budget shortfall earlier this year.
The parks won a reprieve, and supporters are now putting on a party – and hoping to find more friends for both parks.
The public is invited to this free event. The salmon and coffee are provided, but everyone is asked bring a small side dish. The bake starts at 1 p.m.
Sue Schafer, of the family that donated the land to create Schafer State Park, will have a book of the land’s history. There also will be displays of volunteer work in the park and discussion of next year’s plans.
For more information on driving to the park, visit www.parks.wa.gov.
