Two flown to hospital after cycle crash

Two people were injured in a motorcycle crash at 6:26 p.m. Saturday on state Route 3, about a mile south of Allyn, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Also according to the patrol:

John Curtis Haynes, 55, was driving a 2003 Harley-Davidson north and lost control after striking a deer. The motorcycle slid about 25 yards, and both riders were thrown from it.

Haynes suffered unspecified injuries and was flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His passenger, Amy Jane Farrell, 43, suffered a critical head injury and was flown to Harborview.

Both were wearing helmets. Alcohol is thought to have been involved.
