The following construction projects are expected to affect traffic in the coming week, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation and city of Olympia.
Nisqually: Pouring of concrete bases for cable poles will close the left lane of northbound Interstate 5 today and Tuesday, and the left lane of southbound I-5 on Wednesday and Thursday. The work will be done between state Route 510 and the McAllister Creek Bridge.
South Thurston County: Rolling slowdowns are expected from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays on I-5 from Grand Mound to Maytown. One of two on-ramps from U.S. Highway 12 to southbound I-5 is closed, and shoulder closures are possible. Nighttime work for the project has wrapped up for the rest of fall and winter.
Lacey: Curb and drainage installation, as well as road excavation and paving, has closed the shoulder on Martin Way at the I-5 interchange 24 hours a day. Pedestrian access on westbound Martin Way there is restricted.
West Thurston County: Dangerous-tree removal will cause slowdowns from 11 a.m. to noon today on eastbound state Route 8 at Kennedy Creek Road.
Rochester: Dangerous-tree removal will close alternating lanes of U.S. 12 from Forstrom Road to Albany Street. The work will be done from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday.
Olympia: Pipeline repair will create delays on Crestline Boulevard beginning just north of Burbank Avenue.
Fort Lewis: A 900-foot section of 150th Street Southwest will be closed all this week for repair and resurfacing. The street connects with the Perimeter Road that runs between Fort Lewis and McChord Air Force Base. The Fort Lewis and McChord gates near the street will remain open.
Elma: Dangerous-tree removal will create slowdowns from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today on eastbound U.S. 12 at Schouweiler Road.
