Driver's name raises alarm, causes closure
The main gate at Fort Lewis reopened shortly before 7 p.m. Friday after an Army bomb squad determined that a suspicious vehicle posed no threat.
The gate closed shortly after 5 p.m., at the height of rush-hour traffic, after a driver whose name is on a national law enforcement watch list pulled up to the gate, Fort Lewis spokesman Rich Bartel said.
Suspicions were raised after dogs were used to inspect the vehicle, but a closer inspection revealed no problems, Bartel said.
