THE OLYMPIAN
Two Rochester residents killed in a one-car crash were identified Sunday as Raymond M. Schweitzer, 45, and passenger Stella Revay, 49.
Schweitzer died at the scene when the 1996 Pontiac Firebird he was driving slid off Ingalls Road south of Lincoln Creek Road about 11:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Schweitzer lost control of the southbound car on the muddy roadway and overcorrected, troopers said. That caused the car to slide broadside across the roadway, off the road and into the ditch, rolling over once and landing on its top.
Revay also died at the scene. A puppy was found alive inside the car, troopers reported.
The cause of the crash was speeding, according to the State Patrol.
Neither person had been wearing a seat belt, but the occupants would not have been able to open the car doors to escape because the ditch was too narrow, according to the State Patrol.
