Library district seeks feedback from public
The Timberland Regional Library district will conduct town meetings this month in each of the five counties that have Timberland libraries.
The meetings will provide information about the financial challenges facing the library district and what various programs and services cost, and provide an opportunity to collect public feedback.
People also can share their opinions via an online survey at www.trl.org by filling out suggestion forms in all library branches or by sending an e-mail to comments@trlib.org.
The information that is collected will be given to Timberland task forces focused on reducing expenses.
Here are the locations and times for the six town meetings:
• Olympia: 6:30 p.m. March 9, Olympia Timberland Regional Library, 313 Eighth Ave. S.E.
• Randle: 6:30 p.m. March 10, Mountain View Timberland Regional Library, 210 Silverbrook Road.
• Chehalis: 6:30 p.m. March 12, Vernetta Smith Chehalis Timberland Regional Library, 350 N. Market Blvd.
• Lacey: 4 p.m. March 17, Lacey Timberland Regional Library.
• Montesano: 7 p.m. March 18, Montesano Timberland Regional Library, 125 S. Main St.
• Shelton: 4 p.m. March 25, Shelton Timberland Regional Library, 710 W. Alder St.
Lions Club plans meat, potatoes meal
Local Lions Clubs will serve up a dinner of meat and potatoes and all the trimmings from 2 to 5 p.m. March 14 at Olympia First Baptist Church, 904 S. Washington St.
The dinner is open to all Thurston County residents, regardless of income.
"Our community is blessed with so much plenty, even during a recession. We want to share that plenty with others ... — and we want the community to come together to celebrate the fact that we really do enjoy a great life here," Olympia Host Lions president Jan Norman said in a news release.
Donations of food or money for Thurston County Food Bank will be accepted, but they're not required.
The dinner replaces — for this year, at least — the Olympia Host waffle breakfast, which has been a spring offering for about 50 years.
