A 19-year-old man was stabbed in the ribs after two groups of young men got into a fight at Evergreen Forest Elementary School, 3025 Marvin Road S.E., about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reported. The Sheriff’s Office’s gang detectives are investigating.
The man told deputies that he and a group of others were waiting in the parking lot of the elementary school to meet someone regarding an alleged theft, said Sgt. Dave Odegaard. The victim told deputies that two cars, described as a black Honda and a white Honda, drove up and about 15 to 20 young men got out flashing gang signs and verbally identifying a gang, Odegaard said.
The victim said he was stabbed with a broken bottle or a knife when the groups got into a fist fight, Odegaard said. After the stabbing, shots were fired and everyone left the scene, Odegaard said. The victim drove himself to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, Odegaard said.
