Elliott Sadler won his first Sprint Cup pole since 2006 with a dominating run Friday in Fort Worth, Texas.
Sadler zipped around Texas Motor Speedway’s high-banked 11/2-mile track at 195.397 mph, nearly 2 mph better than front-row partner Greg Biffle, a native of Vancouver, Wash.
Points leader Jimmie Johnson qualified 17th for Sunday’s race. He is locked in a tight battle for the title with Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick. Harvick is 26th on the starting grid, and Hamlin is 30th.
Enumclaw’s Kasey Kahne qualified 24th.
