Josiah Warner had all of his 15 points in the second half and the two overtime periods to help Tumwater to a 92-90 upset of first-place River Ridge – the Hawks’ first loss in 2A Evergreen Conference boys basketball play. In the second overtime, Warner had four baskets – including the go-ahead bucket in the final seconds after a steal. River Ridge’s Brad Wallace’s 3-point attempt as time expired fell short. Wallace had a team-leading 32 points. Daniel Hinkle led Tumwater with a game-high 34 points. Because of foul trouble, the Hawks played the last 33.1 seconds of the double overtime with four players on the floor.
Kami Bates’ game-high 19 points led Northwest Christian to a 45-34 win over Willapa Valley in Pacific 2B play. Hailey Bredeson and Allison Sowers also added 11 points apiece for the Navigators.
The River Ridge girls are 5-0 in the EvCo after their 48-47 road win at Tumwater. Necy Wade led the way for the Hawks with 19 points. Chloe Cummings was a big spark off the bench with eight points.
Jamika Parker’s 21-point, 15-rebound performance led W.F. West to a season-high in points in a 71-51 EvCo win over Aberdeen.
