Tumwater goalkeepers Devon Dieckman, Ryan Gudbrandson and Dayton Newell combined for five saves to earn a 6-0 shutout of River Ridge in 2A Evergreen Conference boys soccer Tuesday. Austin Snyder and Connor Sigmon each scored two goals in the first half.
Nick Salazar, Joey Renaud and Apollo Heidal each had first-half goals in North Thurston’s 2A EvCo boys soccer victory over Black Hills to improve to 7-4 overall.
Bryce Joling’s goal in the 58th minute helped Capital to a 1-1 tie against Lincoln in 3A Narrows soccer.
Tony Stalken’s three-run home run was part of a four-run fourth inning for Centralia in its 7-2 2A Evergreen Conference baseball victory over Black Hills at Wheeler Field. Mason Musselman earned the win, giving up one earned run on four hits and six strikeouts over six innings. Black Hills catcher Josh Bown was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Tumwater had a one-run lead in the sixth inning on W.F. West pitcher Brady Calkins, but the visiting Bearcats scored three runs in the seventh to pull out a 5-3 2A EvCo victory.
Brittany Skinner’s two hits were home runs, helping lift Tumwater to a 15-1 five-inning victory over Black Hills in 2A EvCo fastpitch. Tumwater (12-0 overall, 11-0 EvCo) raced out to an 11-0 lead and got big production from Alyssa Ubrun (4-for-4, four RBI) and Gabby Vidallon (3-for-4). Skinner also drove in five runs. Alyssa Nelson had the Wolves’ one hit.
Bellarmine Prep’s Kelly McLaughlin scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 4-3 4A Narrows League win over Olympia. Marie Beagle was 2-for-4 for the Bears.
Saint Martin’s University’s men’s and women’s golf teams each finished second at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference tournaments in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. On the men’s side, Michael Jaeger shot a 2-under-par 69 to finish seventh. On the women’s side, senior Karly Olsen matched her opening-round score of 80 and finished tied for fourth.
