Shannon Eastin will become the first female to officiate an NFL game when she works as a line judge for the Green Bay at San Diego exhibition Thursday night.
The regular NFL officials have been locked out by the league.
Eastin is a college referee who has worked in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. She is one of the replacement officials hired by the NFL.
A resident of Tempe, Ariz., Eastin also has won six national judo championships.

Brandon Weeden is officially the Browns’ starting quarterback.
Coach Pat Shurmur announced that Weeden, the No. 22 overall pick in April’s draft, will start Friday night in Detroit. The 28-year-old rookie from Oklahoma State has taken snaps with the first-team offense throughout training camp.
Incumbent starter Colt McCoy is now in competition with 10-year veteran Seneca Wallace, the former Seahawks player, for the backup job.
