Kelso's Bryce Collins named back-to-back league pitcher of the year

Kelso pitcher Bryce Collins was tabbed the 3A Greater St. Helens League pitcher of the year for the second season in a row. Collins was a first-team all-league selection 2023 and was named the league player of the year in 2024.

This season, Collins struck out 94 batters and gave up just 25 hits and 9 earned runs, finishing with a 1.26 ERA in 50 innings of action on the mound. The senior surpassed 300 strikeouts for his career during Kelso's final game this season. He also tallied 26 hits, including seven doubles and one triple, and 10 RBIs while batting 0.338 at the plate.

Collins is joined by four other Scots on the all-league squad this year. Adam Swanson and Blake Larwick earned first-team honors while Westyn Bell and Trey Snow were named to the second team.

Swanson recorded 24 hits and 21 RBIs with six doubles while batting 0.343. The junior also struck out 56 batters and gave away 35 hits and 11 earned runs while recording a 1.91 ERA in 40 1/3 innings of action on the mound. Larwick notched 15 hits and 22 RBIs with one double and two home runs. The senior also pitched in 33 1/3 innings, striking out 34 batters and surrendering 30 hits and 15 earned runs.

Snow, a junior, finished the season with 15 hits, including five doubles and a triple, and 13 RBIs. Bell connected on 14 hits, including a double, and tallied six RBIs. The sophomore also pitched in 17 2/3 innings, striking out seven batters while giving away 13 hits and 3 earned runs, finishing with a 1.19 ERA.

The quintet of Scots helped Kelso finish the season 14-9 overall with an 8-4 record in league play, placing second. The team also advanced to the district title game and earned a spot in the state tournament before falling in the opening round.
