Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner John Swofford says he's "highly disappointed" that Florida State didn't bring several starters to the league's women's soccer tournament in an apparent attempt to rest them for the NCAA tournament.
In a statement issued Thursday, Swofford called the Seminoles’ decision disrespectful and said conference action will be forthcoming.
Wake Forest beat Florida State, 3-1, in Wednesday’s quarterfinal. The Seminoles left at home seven players who made the all-ACC first or second teams.
Xavier lost senior forward Jamel McLean for up to six weeks with a broken bone around the eye socket. McLean, who averaged 8.5 points and 7.5 rebounds last season, was hurt Tuesday during a 73-62 exhibition victory over Northern Kentucky.
