WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Steven Gray scored 18 points to lead four Gonzaga players in double-figures as the Bulldogs ventured into Atlantic Coast Conference territory and came away with a 73-63 win Sunday at Wake Forest.
Gray added five rebounds and five assists to 3-for-7 shooting to help the Zags (10-5) pull away from a 36-35 halftime lead.
Robert Sacre and Elias Harris each finished with 13 points for Gonzaga, which shot 50 percent (26 of 52) from the field, while Mathis Keita scored 12 points.
Travis McKie scored 16 points, including 9-of-11 shooting from the free throw line to lead Wake Forest (6-8). J.T. Terrell scored 14 and Gary Clark scored 13, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range.
Gray, who spent stretches of the game on the bench with foul trouble, hit a pair of 3-pointers midway through the second half to stretch Gonzaga’s lead to 13.
Wake answered with a run punctuated by Terrell’s 3-pointer that cut it to 62-58 with 4:47 to play.
After a timeout, Gonzaga took control with a 9-1 run.
The taller Zags had the rebounding edge, 40-29.
