The University of Washington freshman crew defeated University of Victoria by two lengths Friday to move into the semifinals of the Henley Royal Regatta in Henley, England.
The Huskies will face Harvard today in the semifinals of the Temple Cup for student eights on the River Thames. Harvard beat England’s Durham University by 21/4 lengths.
Washington won despite warnings from the race umpire for erratic steering. The UW shell won the national title at the IRA Championships in June and was unbeaten through the regular season.
