The Washington Huskies continue to fill up their 2018 football recruiting class.
And mining Arizona for defensive backs seems like a good way to go. The UW received an oral commitment from Centennial High School cornerback Dominique Hampton on Monday morning.
At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Hampton — considered the top defensive back recruit in the state — is the tall, rangy cover guy UW coach Chris Petersen covets, much like a Kevin King (6-3), Jordan Miller (6-1) or Kentrell Love (6-1) who have been with the Huskies.
The UW had been in Hampton’s top five, along with Arizona State, Arizona, Colorado and Oregon State.
Here is Hampton’s junior highlight video from Hudl:
Two years ago, the UW got Byron Murphy — a projected starter for the Huskies this fall — as the top defensive back out of Arizona (Saguaro High School).
Hampton is the 13th player to give the Huskies an oral commitment in this recruiting class, and becomes the first cornerback commit.
