Washington Huskies athletic director Scott Woodward will leave UW to become the new athletic director at Texas A&M, according to a report by Chip Brown of Horns Digest.
UW had no comment on the report.
Woodward’s name was floated yesterday by USA Today columnist Dan Wolken as a possible replacement for Aggies athletic director Eric Hyman, whose departure was announced on Tuesday.
UW also lost its former president, Michael K. Young, to Texas A&M in February, so there is obviously some familiarity with Woodward at that level.
Never miss a local story.
Woodward, 52, was named UW’s athletic director in September 2008 after serving as the school’s vice president of external relations from 2004-2008. He took over the AD position on an interim basis while the UW searched for a replacement for Todd Turner, who resigned in December 2007, then was appointed the full-time athletic director nine months later.
