PULLMAN — New Washington State football coach Paul Wulff is losing backup quarterback Cole Morgan, who is transferring to Western Washington in search of playing time.

Morgan appeared in one game for the Cougars against Idaho in 2006 as a redshirt freshman. As a sophomore last season, Morgan was the Cougars’ third-string quarterback.

Gary Rogers is expected to be WSU’s starting quarterback this fall, with Kevin Lopina and Marshall Lobbestael expected to get some playing time.

Morgan is a junior in eligibility and is expected to challenge Adam Perry of Longview for the starting job at Western Washington this fall.
