Saint Martin's succumbed to Southern Indiana 99-95 in overtime for a season-opening loss at the Division II Tip Off Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Jake Linton led the Saints and with 29 points, and forward Blake Poole had 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
"Southern Indiana is one of the better Division II teams in the country," Saints coach Keith Cooper said. "We battled back and forth."
Tyler Nixon added 13 points for SMU, and Bill Richardson scored 12.
The Saints face Bentley in the tournament at 9 a.m. today.
SMU led Southern Indiana 40-34 at halftime and scored the first five points of the second half to go up by 11.
The Screaming Eagles fought back, then used a 16-3 run to build a 67-60 lead with less than 10 minutes to play.
The Saints answered with another run and led 85-76 with 3:20 on the clock, but Southern Indiana forced overtime by outscoring the Saints 10-1 down the stretch, including 7-0 over the final 1:20.
SMU scored the first four points of overtime but was outscored 13-5 the rest of the way.
• Elsewhere: Giovonne Woods, a River Ridge High School graduate, led Central Washington with 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting as the Wildcats beat Team Another Level 119-81 in an exhibition.

Warner Pacific 3, Evergreen 1
The Geoducks' long season continued with another loss, this time extending Warner Pacific to four games before eventually falling 25-22, 22-25, 25-15, 25-12. Evergreen concludes its season today against Cascade, the only team the Geoducks have beaten this year.
