Tumwater girl sets record in Hot Shot hoops game
Tumwater's Brooke Hare won the 11-12 girls division at the Hot Spot basketball shooting competition and broke the division record in the process.
Hare tallied 73 total points, with an average of 36.5 points per round, breaking the old record set by Katy Duran in 2002.
Sam Mason of Lacey took first place in the boys 13-14 division.
Lisa Chulich, an Olympia High School senior, placed fifth overall in the Female Junior Division of the American Bouldering Series Youth National Championships in Alexandria, Va.
Chulich, who was the Narrows Bay Division MVP this past fall in volleyball, was one of 30 rock climbers in her division. This was Chulich’s second national competition.
The Capital volleyball club’s 12U team won the Power League tournament in Parkland over the weekend. The team defeated Puget Sound Volleyball Club, 25-16, 25-20, in the finals. … The 16U team won all six of its matches in the Olympic Premiere tournament and defeated North Shore Volleyball Club of Everett, 25-14, 25-17, in the final. … The 15U team took second at the Power League tournament, losing to Puget Sound Volleyball Club in the championship match.
Jacob Anderson earned the bronze medal in the 13-year-old middleweight division at the Washington State Judo Championships at Western Washington University on Saturday.
It was Anderson’s first tournament of the season.
The Blackhills FC G13 posted victories over Highline Premiere, 2-0, and Eastside FC, 1-0. … The U16 girls team lost its first game on the season, 3-2, to Spokane Shadow. …
The Evergreen Christian School tied for the Twin County Athletic Association league title with the Community Christian Pathfinders.
Both teams finished the season 11-1.
